Your legal to hr toolkit

Welcome to your dedicated space for transitioning from a legal role into the world of HR. This toolkit is designed to provide you with the resources, guidance, and confidence you need to make a successful career change. This is the first step into HR from Law.

Addressing the challenge

One of the main challenges when moving from a legal position to HR is overcoming doubts about handling the pressure in a new setting, especially given the competitive nature of the legal field. This toolkit directly addresses this by providing resources and support to empower you to take that step confidently, if you feel it's the right move for you.

Gaining confidence

After using this toolkit, the key outcome is to feel more confident in your decision and direction. I would encourage you to explore articles, blogs, and any relevant material out there. Do not be afraid to ask questions and learn from as many people as possible.

I have had multiple conversations in interviews with knowledgable HR professionals, recuriters and  people I know to grasp an understanding of this area.

Valuable tips and resources

Inside this toolkit, you'll find guidance on utilising resources like Open University for free courses like Developing your skills as a HR professional and Human Resource Management and EDI. There are also other websites such as Coursera for courses in areas like data analytics. Additionally, explore articles and journals online to deepen your understanding of HR practices and trends for example I have recently been reading an article called Transformative HR by John W Boudreau and Ravin Jesuthasan which looks at how great companies use evidence based change for sustainable advantage.

I would recommend reaching out to any HR contacts for advice and any recruiters who are willing to set up calls or meetings with you to help you find opportunities. All of this can be taken as a learning experience either way.

A personal journey

This toolkit is unique because it’s based on my honest, ongoing journey into HR. It's a resource I'm continually developing and refining to help others navigate this transition with authenticity and practical insights.
