One common misunderstanding is that changing careers can be mistaken for going for your second choice, although it is more than often the better choice which has become a lot clearer for people over time. I want to emphasise that a career change is often a deliberate and well-considered decision, driven by a desire for a more fulfilling and impactful role.
What's the main thing you want people to understand or feel after reading the answers on this page?
I want people to gain clarity on their career change options and feel more confident about their applications. HR can be a fantastic career, and with the right information, you can make a successful transition.
What's the most important piece of advice you'd give someone new to HR or thinking about making the switch?
My advice would be to take time to consider the decision. Take regular breaks, go for a walk, try a new hobby, and during all that time, you will find your answers on what makes you tick. A well-considered decision is more likely to lead to a satisfying career.
