I have created this web page Step into HR as a way to explore my experience entering this competitive industry and hopefully shed light on important things I pick up on the way to help anyone else.
Why HR?
Firstly, why HR? I spent the past 2 years working as a paralegal in a secure role however I decided I wanted a new challenge in an area that motivated me. It took me some time to be confident to take this step which I am very happy about. I had not known much about HR in school or university but I always knew I had a strong passion for people and being a problem solver.
I have always enjoyed being apart of influencing positive culture at work, supporting training and helping people deal with difficult times in their personal lives. I think this 1to1 engagement and connection is the most appealing aspect of HR. Similar to Law, you are handling sensitive matters which I have learnt to treat with delicate attention. I am fascinated by the skill of being able to manage a company and bring people together.
